The River Walk’s best restaurants – San Antonio

Are you looking for a night on the town at San Antonio’s prime shopping and dining destination? That’s right; we’re talking about the River Walk! With the countless dining options, it can be hard for even us longtime San Antonio residents to decide where to go. So, for those of you that are new to the Alamo City or just looking for some new ideas, here’s a list of some of The River Walk’s best restaurants:

  • Hours: Monday to Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. (closed on Sundays).
  • 106 River Walk, San Antonio

Locally owned, Bella on the River features southern European cuisine with some of the best Mediterranean food in town! Enjoy dinner while romantic live jazz music plays in the background.

Must-Try Menu Item: Seared Scallops


  • Hours: Tuesday to Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 12 to 9 p.m. (closed on Mondays).
  • 103 E Jones Ave., San Antonio

Pub grub is the name of the game at this River Walk restaurant. The Luxury features a huge beer selection, pub fries with special sauce, pulled pork and bocce ball, for an afternoon of fun with friends.


  • Hours: Open 5 to 10 p.m. daily.
  • 231 South Alamo Street, San Antonio

Fine dining takes on a whole new meaning at the Little Rhein Steak House. Located in a structure from 1847, the Little Rhein Steak House offers diners prime USDA steaks, an extensive wine list and some of the most divine desserts on the River Walk in a casual, rustic charm setting.

Must-Try Dessert: Little Rhein Mudball 


  • Hours: Tuesday through Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. (Closed Sunday and Monday).
  • 515 Villita, San Antonio

Situated next door to the Little Rhein Steak House, the Fig Tree operates out of a historic building built in 1853. The Fig Tree offers diners a menu full of classic American fare, like Gulf Coast lump crab cakes, filet mignon, pan seared sea bass and more, in a cozy, elegant interior setting or an outdoor villa-style terrace overlooking the San Antonio River.  


  • Hours: Friday through Saturday from 5:30 to 11 p.m. and Sunday through Thursday from 5:30 to 10 p.m.
  • 203 S. St. Mary’s Street, San Antonio

Head chef Bruce Auden, a 6-time James Beard nominee for the “Best Chef Southwest” award, serves up scrumptious options at Biga on the Banks. Popular menu items include achiote shrimp with grits and hoisin-glazed pork tenderloin with yaki meishi rice.
